If you read SAF on the regular, you probably know how much I love make-up! It can be a bit of an obsession of mine, as I can spend hours trying out new products with different looks, seeing what works with my everyday routine and then tweaking as I go. Yet, as much as I gravitate towards natural and fresh looks, I love to experiment with make-up that is a bit more daring and bold. For example, in winter I love wearing a smoky eye with neutral lips to holiday events and will do the polar opposite during the day, focusing on contouring my face while keeping my make-up light and fresh.

These holiday palettes exclusive to Smashbox are perfect for both! They were created in collaboration with Meryl Pataky, bringing three kits containing colours that were specifically selected from the photo studio pros in LA. They offer a variety of shades and come packaged in a gorgeous, sleek box that requires pretty much no wrapping if you’re thinking of gifting this for the holiday season.

First in the kit is the Contour palette, which lets you bronze, highlight and define features. I found these colours blended effortlessly and gave me a great matte finish, lasting throughout the day without fading. Personally I wish this specific one came in a bigger size with a warmer bronze option, but all in all, this is definitely a great palette to own.

Next up is the Be Legendary lipstick palette, which gives you a variety of comfortable mattes that are high in pigmentation. I found these lip colours to be a bit sheer on me, which I still loved. I think these are perfect for everyday, especially since they are moisturizing and great on the go.

The Photo Op eye shadow palette is the last in the set, which gives eyes a rich, blend-able colour. I did find there was a tiny bit of fall out when using these, but loved the colour selection. They are very pigmented and easy to blend, especially once applied over a primer (love this one).

Overall, I loved the quality of all three in this set and would definitely think this would make a great stocking stuffer for someone who loves to travel or for someone that carries their make-up on the go. You can purchase this set here (just went on sale!)

One of my favourite things about fall is the cool crisp weather. It’s that time of year where you can get away with layering various pieces and still look put together. As you can see, today’s look is all about that, layers in shades of my favourite colour, blue. Many of you already know how much I adore this colour. ♥

As I’ve always believed that accessories can make an outfit, my starting point for styling this look actually revolved around this Rogue bag from Coach (last seen here). I felt that pairing different shades of blue would really make this bag stand out, helping to create an overall look of effortless sophistication. I chose to combine easy casual basics like these ripped jeans and gorgeous navy coat from Zara (sold out, similar) with a classic button down that I’ve had on rotation for the season.
The end result is simple yet sophisticated, which reflects the style of the Rogue. Without a doubt accessories can truly play an important part in your overall look. It can take an otherwise ordinary outfit into an extraordinary one, so don’t be afraid to mix colours and textures this season.

As some of you may already know, I am a bit of a hair-care fanatic, which is why I love finding new products to introduce to my hair-care regime. Products I usually stick to are ones that are sulphate + paraben free, basically anything that is safe for daily use on my hair. Today, I’d love to introduce you to my latest love – The Biolage R.A.W. Uplift line.

This line was new to me when I was first sent products to try out from Matrix. I am not one for products that dry out my hair, or as previously mentioned, products that have chemicals in it; the more natural ingredients the better! I was truly excited to see that Biolage created a line that lived up to my standards in what I wanted in a product; zero sulphates, silicone, parabens or artificial colours. You’d be surprised at how many products contain ingredients that are horrible for your hair! With their R.A.W. line, their ingredients are biodegradable and safe for the environment especially once it’s down the drain; something I haven’t seen available in stores.
To really test these out, I tried their shampoo and conditioner after not washing my hair for a couple of days to see the results. The shampoo purifies really well without stripping the hair and combined with their thick conditioner, my hair has never looked or felt so clean. I’ve tried many other purifying shampoos in the past that have made my hair look dull or dry, this one is the complete opposite; my hair smelled amazing while still retaining it’s shine and movement.
I think the only con is that I’m not used to my hair feeling so clean… sounds ridiculous right? It took a bit to get used to while styling with a blowdryer and round brush, but no complaints! The end results from this combination is totally worth it. Love that it’s raw and does the job by ten fold. I will definitely be reaching for these twice a week when I want to pamper my hair.
