3 WAYS TO LOOK STYLISH IN WINTER

ORA COAT | TURTLENECK | RIPPED DENIM | ANKLE BOOTS | CHLOE BAG

Some of the best outfits are the ones you can throw on the go without having to put too much thought behind it. These looks can have simple colour schemes, clean silhouettes and are elevated when added with that unexpected accessory. With winter though, that can get a little tough. Some of us struggle with the cold (including myself), but you can still look warm and put together when following these 3 easy tips:

THE IMPORTANCE OF LAYERING

Over the years, I’ve come to figure out what outfits keep me warm and what keeps me looking my very best and found a happy medium. The answer my friends is layering. Add a sweater over a long sleeve shirt, then your coat and voila, the formula for looking stylish and warm.

WEAR THE RIGHT MATERIAL

If you have to invest in anything, cashmere, wool and leather are your best friends especially when the temperature drops!

ACCESSORIZE

Never underestimate what a toque, beanie, paperboy hat or any hat for that matter can do. It’s all science; your head is the most sensitive to changes in temperature so covering it up prevents heat loss. Also wearing a hat can look stylish while serving it’s purpose; SO great for those in between days when you don’t want to do your hair (always a plus).

What are ways that you stay stylish and warm? Anything I missed? Leave me a comment below. xoxo

NEW YEAR, NEW JOURNEYS

EXPRESS TANK | AEO JEANS (similar) | CHLOE BAG | SCHUTZ HEELS

Getting back to the swing of things here on Sweet as Fiction. First off, I wanted to say thank you for all of your love and support throughout 2017. I wouldn’t be here without you! Over the last couple of weeks, I took a step back to reflect on the things I’ve learned throughout the past year. I think this is so necessary in order to move forward into a new year. I can say 2017 was one big learning curve in all aspects of my life. I bought a house, switched cities, changed jobs and detoxed my life of relationships that no longer served me, all while focusing on growing my blog. It had a lot of ups and downs, but I learned about myself, life and business and feel it was all a step forward in the right direction. In a way, I think it was to prep me for what’s to come.

Now with 2018 in full swing, I am looking forward to the new year ahead and have a long list of goals that I cannot wait to achieve! Don’t be afraid to dream big. I believe when you strive for greatness, the universe answers. I’d love to hear what some of your goals are for the year ahead. Do share below. xoxo

10 FALL MUST-HAVES

ZARA TRENCH | VINCE SWEATER | RIPPED DENIM | HEELS | YSL BAG | RINGS (1,2,3)

Fall is that magical time of year where the days slow down and you can feel the onset of the holidays just around the corner. That said, I love setting aside some time to rest up, re-evaluate goals and really focus on the things that I am grateful for (something I love doing daily.) With the change of a new season, means it’s also the perfect time to freshen up your wardrobe. I would stick to the golden rule of thumb, keep what you love and find a way to have it on rotation. You’ve heard me mention it on previously here on Sweet As Fiction.

The term ‘shopping your own closet’ has been something that has stuck with me ever since I first heard it. It’s virtually affected how I shop to how I organize my things. When I am looking to add new items to my closet each season, I look for little details; whether it’s an embellishment, texture in a piece or just a special meaning behind an accessory. It has to be classic, something that can be mixed and matched seamlessly with virtually anything in my closet; that way I don’t end up discarding it months later. I’ve put together a mini list of my 10 fall must-haves below:
1. A neutral coloured sweater (beige, black or white)
2. Leather/faux leather pants
3. Moto leather jacket
4. An everyday flat boot. (Love the chloe studded boots)
5. A bright bold colour sweater (bright red, emerald green, light pink)
6. A suede flat with embellishment (anything with a touch of glitter or pattern)
7. A pair of classic sneakers (Love this and this)
8. Sock bootie heel
9. Neutral coloured coat
10. Long duster or trench coat
What are some of your fall favourites and how do keep your closet shoppable? Let me know below. xoxo
