It may come as a surprise, but when it comes to beauty I am really a low maintenance type of girl. When I find products that I love, I stick with them. Since my every day can vary, I typically choose a more simplified beauty routine keeping my look ‘au natural’. Fresh skin, powder, eyeliner with a flick and a matte nude lip colour are all I really need. I guess you could say my signature look is very much the no-make-up makeup look.
To be honest, as much as I love makeup, I’m also a huge skincare fanatic. This is surprisingly something I don’t talk enough about on Sweet as Fiction and so today I wanted to switch things up and share some of my all-time favourites between both.
My skin tends to be on the drier side so my focus over the last couple of years have been on hydration and looking at key ingredients found in products I was using. I wanted to be sure they weren’t harmful in the long run and provided the right amount of moisture without causing breakouts. All in all healthy, glowing skin is what I want to maintain and achieve, which means finding a skincare routine I can trust. Steps 1 & 2 are steps I never miss!
Step 1: Cleanse my face with a gentle face wash and pat dry. I love Cera Ve.
Step 2: Next up I apply a booster before going into my daily skincare routine. I love this one by Elizabeth Arden. I’ve never seen my skin look so rejunveated and hydrated. Such a must-have! Serum is applied next once the booster sets in. I’ve been using this one for years.
Step 3: Apply La Roche Posey SPF and then moisturizer. My all-time favourite is the Juice Beauty Stem Celluar Anti-Wrinkly Moisturizer.
Step 4: Dab a small amount of Nars creamy concealer onto any red spots or blemishes.
Step 5: Fill my eyebrows in using Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Pencil.
Step 6: Following my natural lash line, line my eyes to the outer corner for that eyeliner flick (aka. the signature cat eye).
Step 7: Apply Standing Ovation Mascara onto the outer, upper and lowers corners of my lashes.
Step 8: For that natural glow, I use Charlotte Tilbury Bronze & Blush Glow applying it to my cheek bones, a touch on my eyelid and upper lip.
Step 9: Dab a small amount of powder onto your brush and dust a light amount all over your face. Love this one from Elizabeth Arden. Keeps me matte all day long.
Y voila! A little insight into my daily skin and makeup routine. Let me know what you end up trying for yourself and love. Thanks for reading! xoxo
